You need to furnish detailed information on the mark, goods and services at the time of filing. However, you have to shell out $225 per class of goods or services for this filing option.

TEAS Standard

Slightly costlier than TEAS Plus, this option has the filing fee of $275 per class of goods or services. However, you needn’t provide the complete information of a trademark. You can get a trademark by providing minimum information.

However, besides filing by using TEAS, other options are available too. In rare situations, the USPTO may allow you to use other means of filing. However, you need to file a petition to use other means.

The significance of the trademark symbols TM, SM, and ®

TM, SM, and ® are three different symbols. A company may use TM and SM symbols along with its unique mark for its goods and services respectively. When a business chooses a mark to be its trademark, it uses TM or SM symbol with it. These symbols mean that the company is going to register the mark.

For instance, an XYZ company uses the phrase “Life in the Fast Lane” as its unique mark. If the company wants to trademark the phrase in the future, it can use TM with the phrase.
